Final Time at Pennebaker as a Junior!

My last time working at Pennebaker was spent very well. I worked through their March internal advertisement assessment and added in a series of references saying whether the ad campaigns and ad words are doing better or worse than before. I also received homework in the form of reading about the important tenets of data analysis. Talking about these tenets with Mr. Byrd really helped me to understand what Pennebaker does and how well they do it. I feel like through my time at Pennebaker I've really been able to learn more about marketing and the personal side of economics. I'm excited to get back to work next year and I can't wait to see where the internship takes me!

One Month at Pennebaker

I've spent a month at Pennebaker now. This week I finished off my work on the internal advertisement analysis for Mr. Byrd and moved on to working on other outside projects. I spent some time working on putting information from a client's website into one of the content-gathering websites that Pennebaker uses. Even though transferring information could be considered a very mundane task, I still find all of the things I learn from the information itself very interesting. Plus it's still amazing to have contact with all of these competent young adults. I feel like I'm being immersed in an office culture that creates a space for people to think, plan, and act. It's an incredible opportunity and I would be happy to pass this off to another student when I move on to college. It's so incredible.

Week Three At Pennebaker

This week I spent my time at Pennebaker working with Mr. Byrd (one of the guys in charge of the digital work at Pennebaker) on an internal analysis of how Pennebaker’s ad campaigns are going. I spent a lot of time loading information in about the keywords and ad campaigns that Pennebaker runs for itself. I’ve been learning a lot about the world of online advertising and how negative keywords (search words that keep certain words from linking to Pennebaker’s ads) are just as important as the usual keywords. The creative talent someone has to have to create appealing advertisements is highly surprising, as people often brush off the talent needed for advertising. I am so interested by the ways the designers at Pennebaker work with keywords and advertisements to create connections to their clients. It really shows me that marketing is a social, psychological, and economic phenomenon. I learn more every day and I love it.
